Issue evaluation

Read the notes, then try the questions. Each one is marked the moment you press Check, and shows the right answer and why.

Key ideas

  • Paper 3 Section A uses a pre-release resources booklet, issued about 12 weeks before the exam. Study it in advance and learn the context.
  • A stakeholder is a person or group affected by a decision. Their views often conflict. Tie each view to the place and the issue.
  • A multi-use development combines linked functions, such as housing and leisure, so that each use helps the others.
  • A decision answer: state your decision, back it with evidence from the booklet, develop with your own knowledge, deal with the counter-argument, and conclude by returning to the question.
  • Judge sustainability against criteria such as jobs, services, transport, green space and use of resources, now and in the future.
