GCSE PE question bank and courses, ready to set

Steve Benton, computing teacher and founder of SubjectHub

PE theory gets one or two lessons a week. The rest of the time the class is in the sports hall, but the theory is still a large part of the grade. A GCSE PE question bank that pupils work through at home, marked for them, gives some of that time back.

What's in the GCSE PE question bank

PE and Sport went live this week with 23 ready-made courses and 349 pieces of work, built from the question banks for:

  • Edexcel GCSE PE (1PE0)
  • the BTEC Tech Award in Sport
  • OCR A level PE (H555)
  • the BTEC National in Sport

Each course is ready to set to a class as it stands. You set a course rather than build one.

A lever drawn for a PE question: the fulcrum at one end, the load in the middle and the effort pushing up at the other end
A lever diagram from the PE questions. Which class of lever is it?

Reading a lever

Take the lever above. The fulcrum is at one end, the effort at the other, and the load sits between them, so it is a second-class lever.

The example pupils are expected to know is standing on tiptoe. The ball of the foot is the fulcrum, the body's weight is the load, and the calf muscle provides the effort. Diagrams like this are drawn for the questions, so they match the wording exactly.

The PE questions also run in the live class games for schools with the PE package. The pricing page explains how packages work.

Subscribe by 31 January 2027 and PE comes with every other subject for a year.
