Improve the railway app mind map

A messy draft of ideas for a heritage railway's visitor app. Regroup, link and annotate it for the app developer.

The scenario

Valley Steam Railway visitor app

Valley Steam Railway is a heritage steam railway. It wants a visitor app with an interactive route map, ride timetables, a family treasure-hunt game, and audio stories about the railway's history. Visitors range from young families to older heritage enthusiasts.

The task

A volunteer has started a digital mind map of ideas for the Valley Steam Railway visitor app. The app developer will use it to plan the app's screens and content, but the draft is messy: some ideas sit under the wrong branch, one branch has nothing under it, one idea has nothing to do with visitors, and some labels are not connected at all.

Improve the effectiveness of the mind map for use by the app developer. You will get credit for: using the components and conventions of a mind map (central node, branches, sub-nodes and the links between them); grouping related ideas logically; and notes on your changes that explain how each one helps the app developer in their role.

Questions

Is this the real exam?

No. It is a practice question in the style of OCR's R093 paper: a client scenario, a document for a named user, and an extended answer marked by three levels. SubjectHub wrote it from the specification and the published mark schemes; the real papers are set by OCR.

How is it marked?

Straight away and for free, code counts the structure: a named central node, the main branches against what the task asks for, branches developed with sub-ideas, and your notes. With a free account you also get the full mark: each idea and note is judged against the brief and OCR's three levels, and you get a mark, the level, feedback and one next step.

Do I need an account?

No, not to try it: answer it here and get the free check. For the full mark and examiner-style feedback, create a free account. Sign-up opens in a new tab, so your answer stays on this page, and it is kept in this browser if you come back later. Signed-in users get 10 full marks a day.
